Dawn of Acheron is a mud set in a world vaguely like our own whose history was irreversibly altered five hundred years ago, just when man was beginning to understand the workings of firearms and machinery and learn new expressions of beauty. After sitting idly by and watching the world worship a hollow concept of hope and compassion which acted as a thin veil for war and corruption for fifteen hundred years, Lucifer rose against the Host of Heaven once more. Unlike his first rebellion, the second one was backed by all the legions of Hell, each of which had their own interests in seeing Heaven defeated. The war, fought both in the other worlds and this one, ravaged the earth, changing its geography to something unrecognizable as both Heaven and Hell merged with the human world. Humanity was given the chance to see religion for what it was, to learn magic from the demons and angels who sought their aid, to find a new future. In the end, Heaven lost, which is not to say Hell won. Both sides are bound now to the earth, just like us, shaping the world and its destiny.
